Three years later, the couple decided that they wanted to become parents, but they couldn’t do it in the traditional way. Chopra candidly said that on the days of her ovulation, she and her husband, as a rule, were far from each other. As time went on, and who knows, 39-year-old Priyanka would have been able to get pregnant without difficulty, so together with Nick, they decided to go the other way and turned to a surrogate mother.
In January 2022, the couple became parents – the girl Malti Marie was born (from Sanskrit it means “moonlight” or “fragrant flower”). “Overwhelmed with happiness, we confirm that we have a child from a surrogate mother. We ask that you respect our privacy during this special time so that we can focus on our family. Thank you so much,” Priyanka and Nick wrote on social media.
For many weeks, the couple did not share any information about their baby, and it turned out that there were reasons for this. It turned out that the girl was born almost three months prematurely! Thus, Malty Marie spent the first 100 days of her life in intensive care, and her parents could not take her home. In the intensive care unit, the doctors did everything to save the girl’s life.
After Prinyak and Nick were discharged, they thanked the doctors and nurses at the Los Angeles hospital who were taking their baby out. “On this Mother’s Day, we can’t help but reflect on these past few months and the roller coaster we’ve been on. We now know what many people have experienced. After 100+ days in intensive care, our little girl is finally home,” Nick Jonas wrote on his social media.
The couple shared the first photo of their long-awaited daughter but covered their face with a smiley face. Apparently, the fear has not gone anywhere yet, and young parents want to protect the baby from prying eyes.
