Yesterday, December 22, Google re-enabled the query indexing tool inSearch Console. The company wrote on its Twitter account: “We are pleased to announce that Query Indexing is back to checking URLs in the Google Search Console – just in time for the New Year!”

Recall that the tool was disabled on October 14, 2020, that is, it was absent for 69 days. The return of indexing was expected by SEOs and publishers because the feature is actually very useful. This speeds up the process of scanning important URLs. Moreover, it can be both new pages and old ones with important changes.

However, as Google notes, requesting to index a web page does not guarantee that the robot will index or rate it. The company also clarified that if you have “a large number of URLs, you should submit a sitemap rather than request indexing.”
