This is one of the most popular beauty problems along with trying to get dressed without smearing makeup. Mascara, imprinted on the upper eyelid, is not a sign of unprofessionalism or bad luck, but a potential reason to see a doctor.

We are willing to bet that this has happened to you more than once.

You’re going, it’s time to go out and run to work or school, it remains only to finish the eyelashes and find the keys to the house. A couple of strokes with a brush – perfect! – and then a treacherous tickle in the nose. You realize that an imminent make-up catastrophe is coming, you turn away from the light so as not to provoke yourself, but still… Aichi! And all the mascara you just put on your lashes ends up on your upper eyelid, and at worst you look like a panda.

Well, we’ll have to stay another 5 minutes and wipe the traces of this incident from our faces. And it would be nice if this happened by accident, but no, it’s worth putting on eyelashes, if you want to sneeze. Why?

If this problem is unfamiliar to you, we are sincerely happy for you and virtually shake hands. But thousands of girls cannot finish their makeup without ruining it in one fell swoop (that is, a sneeze). And this is not a curse of the makeup gods, but the response of the body, which each of us reacts differently to stimuli. And for some, a brush brought close to the eyes is such an irritant.

Doctors explain that it’s all about the trigeminal nerve, which provides sensitivity to almost the entire face, as well as the nasal mucosa. This means that the fibers that make up the trigeminal nerve are connected, and irritation of one of them can lead to activation of the other. Have you noticed how sometimes tears come out of your eyes due to sneezing? That’s how it works. And when we irritate the roots of the eyelashes, and in this place especially sensitive nerves, a large part of the trigeminal nerve reacts, which makes us sneeze and blink. And if you apply mascara in a hurry, quickly passing through the eyelashes, then you are simply guaranteed to sneeze.

But there is another reason why makeup ends with a loud “Apchi!”. If, after applying mascara, the skin around the eyes turns red and even becomes covered with small spots, urgently put the brush aside and go to the doctor. This is an allergy and it’s a rather dangerous manifestation. Maybe this is how the body reacts to a specific ingredient in cosmetics and it just needs to be replaced. So innocent sneezing can be a sign of not just nerve contractions, but also a serious illness. Listen to your body and be healthy!
