The former first lady of the United States became one of the first style icons and the standard of a well-groomed woman.

The ability to look beautiful in any circumstances was not the goal of her life, but only perfectly set off all the other virtues of Jacqueline. She has a lot to learn – collected in this article beauty rituals and habits of Mrs. Lee Bouvier Kennedy Onassis.

Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis brushed her hair at least 75 times and never went to bed with makeup on from early adolescence until her death in 1994.

Writer Pamela Clarke Keough explored the rules that allowed this amazing woman to forever remain a symbol of grace and released the book Jackie Style. We collected the basic rules that the former first lady of the United States used every day to maintain youth and remain beautiful.

Jackie did not follow fashion but created it

Jacqueline was very naturally beautiful and always looked natural. In the 40s and 50s, women wore tons of makeup, but Jackie preferred a completely different style – a little powder, lipstick, and slightly emphasized eyelashes. High-class East Coast!

She never copied other people – so everyone wanted to be like her.

She always wore huge sunglasses

Few people thought about the dangers of solar radiation in the 20th century, and women considered sunbathing to be a boon for the skin. However, Jacqueline understood that ultraviolet radiation harms the thin skin around the eyes.

In Jackie’s office desk drawer in Manhattan, she kept a dozen sunglasses—the more the better. She loved them also because the glasses hid her eyes, but she could watch people.

Jacqueline did yoga before it became mainstream

Jacqueline and her sister Lee Radziwill learned about yoga during a trip to India and immediately found an instructor upon their return to the US. Jackie practiced in an old swimsuit and did not spare herself at all – her instructor said that even on the hottest days she did not cancel classes.

She set aside one evening a week for intensive self-care.

Ever since their college days, Jacqueline has been accustomed to booking Thursday nights. She devoted this time to the meticulous care of her hair and legs.

Jackie Kennedy used the cold cream brand Ponds as a mask. She applied it in a thick layer and massaged her face for two minutes, and then removed the excess cream with a napkin.

She didn’t let the weight fluctuate

“When she was the first lady, people wrote to the White House wanting to know everything about her, even what she ate for breakfast,” Keough writes in her book, referring to the topic of mother-of-two children’s nutrition. “Her social secretary, Tish Baldrige, said that Jackie watched her weight the way a cutter measures diamonds. With precision. If she added a little, then the next day she ate only fruits, drank tea and water, and even starved.”

Jackie completely changed her style after 40 years

After the death of John F. Kennedy, Jackie left the White House. And this made her freer – Jacqueline was no longer obliged to represent the country.

She moved to New York and at the age of 39 married millionaires Aristotle Onassis. And she became more relaxed and sexier than ever: she wore long flowing hair, flaunted her bare legs, and dressed like a twenty-year-old. Her whole appearance seemed to say: “I will do whatever I want.” And that was great too!
