The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine at an extraordinary meeting adopted a resolution to extend the quarantine.

in Ukraine until May 22 and the parallel weakening of some restrictive measures from May 11. Someone decided not to miss the opportunity and has already met with friends on the summer terrace, someone can’t help but panic: what’s next?

We cannot predict the future with certainty, and in these turbulent times, it may even seem to us that it is too vague and uncertain. What was stable and familiar has suddenly changed, and the unknown makes us fearfully wait for new problems.

How do deal with this fear, what to do? We learned from a personal growth coach, a certified international coach, and the author of the Free Soul project Roman Kirichenko.

In the grip of fear

Today, according to the results of a study by GfK Ukraine, the main fears of Ukrainians are the economic crisis and an increase in cases of diseases, then the weakness of the authorities and unemployment.

The root cause of fear is the unknown. Fear of the unknown is a basic human emotion that informs about danger and helps to mobilize in order to solve the difficulties that have arisen, to avoid danger. This is usually due to real or imagined problems.

Roman Kirichenko is convinced.

Of course, one of the main fears for everyone is the loss of a source of income. On an instinctive level, fear for one’s life or fear of death will also join.

According to a GfK Ukraine survey, 80% of respondents are concerned about a possible crisis for their employer. 8% have already confirmed that they have lost their job, and 44% note a reduction in the time they spent on work during the last week.

It is important to understand how flexible and adaptable you can be to a given situation.
And if you choose to regret, lament and find any excuse for your inaction, naturally you should not expect any changes.

Look into the eyes of fear

The first thing to do is to acknowledge that this fear exists.
You may not be aware of it, but you need to accept it and focus on the problem. After all, if this is not
done, it will be more difficult to overcome it in the future, since it is conditionally invisible.

When you admit to yourself that you have this or that problem, fear takes on a tangible form. It becomes easier for you to control your emotions. Understanding that you yourself influence the process gives confidence and courage. Then, it is worth asking yourself the question: “Does this threaten my health, freedom, and life?”.

If all three answers are negative, then your instinct for self-preservation will “loosen its grip” and there will be more ease. The task of fear is to signal danger, and when you realize that nothing threatens you, you will not be so anxious.

The key principle of the fear of the unknown is equality: the unknown = the danger. All you have to do is clarify. In this case, it is advisable to speak the questions and answers aloud or write them down on paper. When you analyze all this, you will have new thoughts and ideas for solving the problem.

Then, you have to face your fears face to face and think through all the worst scenarios. Then mentally say to yourself: “I can handle it, even if everything happens in the worst possible way!”.

At some point, you will realize that your fears and worries are nothing more than just emotions. All of them will lose their power as soon as you stop feeding them.

Recognizing the Opportunities

Uncertainty and unpredictability are cyclical and will happen to you all the time. Therefore, the unknown is an integral part of human life.

What for some now seems like a collapse for others, this can be a cool launching pad for a complete reset of your life and the realization of what you really want.
The main thing that a person is tuned to is either regret, or it is a search for an opportunity to
realize their desires.
